this is one big project. you better call a hair stylist an ask the pros to see aht they do. you may need some relaxer or some thing like that. is it black people hair? if so relaxer is a good idea.

Well unfortunately the ONLY way to get rid of dreadlocks is CUT them. Dreadlocks has nothing but built in moisture and dirt in each dread. The thicker the dread the more dirt %26amp; moisture inside of it.

I would try a few things. I remember peanut butter being used to take gum out of hair. Try it and start combing from the tips. Try Mayonnaise also. These hold oil and thoroughly saturate. I'm confident it will work.

You can try and comb them out...I know someone who did that...but i don't know how her locks were beforehand. I'd sya...let them grow out a little more but comb the roots and then cut the lock off. Then, your hair will be short...but you won't look bald.
