Can you get head lice by cutting someone's hair that has lice?

I work in a salon, and didn't notice that the client had lice until I had already shampooed, cut, blow dried, and I was in the middle of flat ironing it when I noticed. Can I get it or am I safe???

Lice do not jump, they are not bugs, they are a parasite. I would recommend that you have someone check your head for you because it's a possibility that you might have them. (I would also let the client know that they have them, in a polite manner, of course.) Since you had your hands in their hair, anything you touched could have been contaminated including your hair. I would clean every utensil you used (et al shears, combs, clips, etc.) and clean your entire area (et al chair, table, towells, etc.) because the next person you use these things on can also get lice.

It's a huge ordeal when someone comes in with lice to a salon and that is why every head needs checked before any service is done.

It depends on how close your head/hair got to theirs. Check your hair (or have someone else check it for you) just to be on the safe side. I've heard that lice can jump a few feet, so there is a possibility you have it.

lice are bugs, so they can jump from head to head. have some one check your head for you just in case.
